Technology Met Style At The New York Fashion Week 2022, With Designer Jonathan Simkhai Showcasing His Collection In Metaverse
Fashion’s new favourite metaverse is breaking boundaries and how! And an apt example of that was New York Fashion Week 2022. The world of fashion is soaring high and applauding this new technology. Celebrated designer Jonathan Simkhai’s AW22 display of digital wearables shinned at the fashion week this year. As a part of the Metaverse Fashion Week, the event was produced by Everyrealm and Blueberry Entertainment, a day before his seasonal physical presentation. With models from the metaverse, walking the digital ramp, the presentation was nothing short of a grand physical showcase. And you may ask why? Because not just that but, the Digi-show also featured influencers, celebrities, and journalists from fashion, lifestyle and technology industries as VIP guests, who appeared via personalised avatars, that too wearing Jonathan Simkhai looks and arrived via teleportation to their allotted seats (isn’t that cool?). The virtual show also made the designer first-ever to show its digital wearables collection ahead of its physical counterparts.

Moreover, the designs were converted into digital wearables by Blueberry Entertainment, followed by an NFT sale of selected wearables from the collection after the event beginning February, 16. The eight-minute-long presentation was filled with open spaces, sidewalks and stunning visuals of stone structures. Debuting 11 designs from his Fall/Winter 2022 collection, the theme spoke in shades of gold, beige, black and pink, encapsulation the flavour of cut-out trends, tassels, sequins and more. Most of the garments also came accompanied with beaded attachments on cropped blazers, with colourful boots being the highlight of the showcase.
This marriage between technology and style indicates a new wave of change in the world of fashion and we’re excited to see more of it.
