From Kim Kardashian To Sydney Sweeney: 10 Met Gala Attendees Who Forgot To Add The ‘Gilded’ To Their ‘Glamour’

From Kim Kardashian To Sydney Sweeney: 10 Met Gala Attendees Who Forgot To Add The ‘Gilded’ To Their ‘Glamour’

The Met Gala 2022 was a prime example of hit or miss. Admittedly with a lot of misses. I feel like this year’s Met was pretty disappointing considering how easy the theme was  ‘Gilded Glamour and White Tie’. Most didn’t seem to understand what the assignment was and kinda went the opposite way from what the intention of the dressing theme was. A lot of celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Jacob Elordi, Jung Hoyeon, Rege Jean and many more decided to go ultra basic for something that demands drama and extra-ness like the Met. Take a look at the all the celebs that disappointed us with how basic they looked this year:

1. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian looked amazing in her nude and vintage 60-years-old Marilyn Monroe dress. However, I felt as though this dress was very similar to most outfits she adorns. A tight fitted body con gown that shows off her curves looks gorgeous but is too predictable to be in the Met Gala.

2. Khloe Kardashian

Khloe was seen wearing an eye turning gold beaded, fitted gown by Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott. The sheer bottom of the dress gave us a glimpse of her legs as well. However, I felt like this outfit resembled Kim’s pretty close and was just as basic as hers. While Khloe stayed close to the Met theme with the gold, everything else about the outfit screamed basic.

3. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner attracted a lot of attention by paying homage to the late Virgil Abloh by wearing an off-white bridal ensemble by the designer. However, the fact that the outfit was picked right off the runway didn’t really make it stand out and with the addition of the baseball cap, simply looked unique.

4. Nicola Peltz

Nicola Peltz while looking absolutely pretty in pink, kinda left us wanting more as she wore a Valentino dress in their signature hot pink. However, this dress was also picked straight off the runway of Valentino’s Winter/Autumn collection 2022 which made it look uninspired.

5. Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan was also seen wearing Valentino in their hot pink colour. However, considering it was also picked up from the runway making it seem very mundane.

6. Jacob Elordi

Jacob Elordi was seen wearing an embellished suit with a hoop earring on his left ear. He wore a slick black suit with a white shirt and black tie. Despite the embellishment, his look came off as a very typical look for a man and I feel that considering it was the Met, he could have done so much more.

7. Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney looked so adorable wearing her Tory Burch gown with a detachable skirt and peplum waist. However, while it was an amazing look for a red carpet look, it wasn’t worthy of Met Gala, in my opinion. It looked too plain as compared to the legacy of over the top outfits we have had in the Met.

8. Emma Stone

Emma Stone re-wore her wedding after-party outfit to the Met Gala this year. It was a short, white  Louis Vuitton dress with a feathered skirt. However, despite the sentimental value the dress failed to live up to the theme. It was too plain for the Met and didn’t have and gilded in her glamour.

9. HoYeon Jung

Squid game star HoYeon Jung wore a mini navy dress with strategic cut outs by Louis Vuitton. While the look was super flattering, she wasn’t really living up to the extra-ness of Met making her outfit look perfect for a night out in town but not the Met.

10. Regé-Jean

Regé-Jean Was seen wearing a suave velvet tuxedo. However, the outfit fell short as it was a basic tuxedo set for something as over-the-top as the Met.
