Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI Day 1 Highlights: From Rakul Preet in Khadi to Anavila’s Street Style Saree
It's a total showstopper!
Lakmé Fashion Week has arrived in collaboration with FDCI, and Jio World Garden in BKC is the venue for the March edition of this grand event. The four-day fashion spectacle began on Thursday, March 9, and featured a spectacular presentation by Anavila, Bodice, Vaishali S and more with designers with a focus on sustainability in their designs, making it the perfect opening for the event.

GenNext 2023 winners KoAi, Hiro, KoyToy, and Rudraksh Dwivedi presented a perfect opening for the event with Neha Dhupia as their showstopper. KoAi’s Coalescence collection featured unique prints and complemented aesthetics with a mix of heavy cotton silk, mushroom twill, poplin cotton, and chiffon. Bringing back the saree with a traditional twist and going back to the roots, Designer Anavila Misra’s latest collection, titled DABU, was the opening showcase of Atelier, a space for experimental presentations and shows.

Making designs bloom with bright colours, fluid silhouettes, and signature binding, Bodice with their latest collection featured panelled sundresses and elevated daywear perfect for work or play. And, with a conscious focus on versatile separates, they also sported attires that can be mixed and matched to your heart’s content.

Vaishali S collaborated with Lakmé Salon and showcased their latest collection, BENEATH, at Lakmé Fashion Week. This sustainable collection was inspired by the ocean’s depths and featured stunning hair and makeup looks made with eco-friendly ingredients with a colour palette as vibrant as the oceans and fabrics made entirely from sustainably sourced materials.

Khadi India concluded the first day of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI, with a multi-designer showcase featuring Divyam Mehta, Suket Dhir, Shruti Sancheti, and Khadi India, with showstoppers Vijay Varma and Rakul Preet, this showcase celebrated Khadi with a modern twist. From traditional folk art-inspired saree design patterns to handcrafted fabrication and draping techniques, the collection was a tribute to Khadi’s rich heritage and versatility.
