6 Times Kim Kardashian Endorsed Discomfort To Her Body In The Name Of Fashion. So Toxic!

Don't try this ever at home!
6 Times Kim Kardashian Endorsed Discomfort To Her Body In The Name Of Fashion. So Toxic!

Kim Kardashian, the beauty mogul and self-crowned queen of style has been one of the many celebrity names, who have dressed to create trends. Kardashian’s sartorial journey from cosmetic surgeries, taking style notes from ex-husband Kanye West to finally building a brand of her own, has displayed a massive change. Despite every time she walks the red carpet, thinking it is iconic, her ensembles are little memoirs of women from history, who actually curated the trends that she seems to call her own. From being an obsessive follower of Marilyn Monroe, and digging out her grave to relive her fashion moments, to collaborating with popular designer houses on collections, that confuse us more about her personal style, Kardashian, in many ways has turned out to be an influence, fashion nerds definitely don’t enjoy learning from. While the rich girl lens that she puts on fashion, is already a problematic debate, what adds to her troubled personal style is her take on uncomfortable fashion.

Choosing discomfort in the name of style, and labelling it as “iconic,” Kardashian has often provided us with instances that make our opinions on her sartorial taste, even more strong. Through fashion films, weekly visits to fashion week front rows to even the Met Gala, it is either on the stairs or while selling a style tip during a media byte, that she unleashes her problematic take on fashion. “Ouch” if we may say so, is the only term that we scream in reaction to her outfits. Hence, we’re looking back at all the times, Kim chose discomfort in the name of Fashion.

Two Times In Dolce & Gabbana

After a year-long collaboration with Balenciaga, Kim is now a part of the Dolce & Gabbana troop, and her fashion is a visual pain for us to watch. At the latest edition of Milan Fashion Week, Kim wore two seemingly tight outfights and consciously restricted herself from climbing stairs. The slim fit tight red skirt, with a bralette, was styled by her using a pair of pointed heels, in which she dared to climb the stairs. Also sharing a video of the same, Kim tried to portray her struggles as if she’s some kind of soldier for doing this. A similar scene was visible at the Milan Fashion Week, last year, when she strutted on the ramp for Dolce & Gabbana in a slim-fit, metallic gown, but couldn’t even get into her car and sit peacefully in it.

The Monroe Met Gala Moment

The 2022 Met Gala, bid us adieu with tons of fashion moments, half of which were extremely controversial. Dressing for the gilded glamour theme, Kim Kardashian arrived on the red carpet with ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson, in a skin-fit, 60-year-old dress by the legendary Marilyn Monroe. While on the exterior, the outfit was a vision, adorned with crystals, news about Kardashian ruining the vintage piece found a spot in headlines. The star was accused of allegedly tearing the dress, in order to fit herself in the silhouette. Admitting to having lost weight, she also spoke about her painful crash diet for a mere red carpet moment. Soon fans, and celebs including actress Lili Reinhart, slammed Kardashian for casually promoting a crash diet in the name of fashion.

Duct Tape Doll

At another round of fashion week, in the previous year, the beauty mogul DIY-ed a Balenciaga look, using the label’s signature duct tape that said “Balenciaga” instead of “caution.” Sharing the making of the outfit, the video explained how Kim wore a second-skin-like catsuit and allowed her assistants to wrap her body with multiple rounds of duct tape to make a statement at the fashion week. Videos from the backstage of the show, presented the harsh realities of uncomfortable fashion, as people trolled Kim for not being able to walk in the duct tape catsuit.

A Muscle Pull For Fashion

Braving a muscle pull at the Paris Fashion Week, Kim did something similar three years ago. Kardashian’s video of stuffing her curves in a ridiculously tight Balmain suit surfaced on the internet. The video featured Kardashian screaming and squeezing herself into the latex suit, while a bunch of five assistants helped her get into it. She also said–”This is f—— Fashion Week.” She also revealed that the excessive effort also resulted in a muscle pull, which we do not think was worth that suit.

Another Met Gala Moment

At the 2019 Met Gala, Kim walked the red carpet with ex-husband Kanye in a custom-made flesh-coloured dress by Thierry Mugler. For the same, Kardashian forced herself into a corset, that wasn’t easy to breathe in. While the outfit earned applause from the internet, what added to the trouble was the silicone dress that she couldn’t even move in.

Parading In Tight Heels During Pregnancy

During her first pregnancy, Kim did not keep herself away from endorsing uncomfortable fashion, and fabrics that could cause major health concerns. Especially with her swollen feet, which she forcefully zipped up into her strappy heels. In pictures shared by Kim during her pregnancy, the beauty mogul showed the pain her feet went through while forcing extremely strappy heels on them. Despite experiencing massive swelling during her first pregnancy, she continued to torcher her feet, which the internet was totally against.

While fashion can be anything you want it to be, Kim Kardashian’s approach to it is not only a visible punishment for herself but her body. Such choice of fabrics and waist-fit, body-hugging silhouettes can result in major skin issues, cause allergies and also give you a massive muscle pull for life. So ladies, let clothes be a happy guest in your wardrobe, and treat them less like enemies.
