Kareena Kapoor Khan Sets The Lakmé Fashion Week Ramp On Fire In Gaurav Gupta Gown. But She’d Prefer A Kaftan!

Fashion to me is nothing but comfort. If I’m comfortable in particular clothing, then it is a part of my wardrobe. But if I’m not, then well, tough luck. So, every time I look at fashion shows, I often wonder if the models, actors, celebrities, etc. walking the runway are comfortable in the clothes that they are parading. I mean, some of them even look uncomfortable to me. But then I guess, it is what it is and that’s their way of living. Having said that, not all actors prefer to be dressed in couture all the time. And Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of them. She walked the Lakmé Fashion week ramp as a showstopper for designer Gaurav Gupta and needless to say, she set the ramp on fire.

On Sunday, Kareena Kapoor Khan walked the ramp with grace and confidence in a white shimmery gown by designer Gaurav Gupta. This is the first time that the actress was seen on the ramp after giving birth to her second son, Jehangir.

The outfit designed by Gaurav Gupta for the Lakmé Fashion week grand finale is his attempt to make sustainability look sexy. The outfit worn by Kareena Kapoor, and by the other models, was made from fabrics that were created out of wrappers of biscuits, chips, plastic bottles, and other consumable items that have been removed from the oceans and landfills.

When asked about how she feels about fashion going the sustainable way in an interview, the Good Newwz actress said that she couldn’t have been happier about the idea and strongly believes that if the supply is more, then the people will consume it. Kareena Kapoor Khan said, “I believe that if designers make conscious decisions, then automatically the consumer will be forced to purchase sustainable fashion and that’s the message we want to send out… And yes, sustainability can be sexy too.”

Kareena Kapoor, being a fashion icon for many, described her style as, “Comfort, casual and very cool. I love being in my kaftans and pyjamas. For a party, I always prefer opting for a pair of black trousers and a singlet. I wouldn’t wear couture for sure. Mumbai city doesn’t really permit you to do anything else as it is so hot. I prefer being comfortable and keeping it casual. A nice pair of jeans and sneakers, that’s my vibe.”

In fact, after Kareena turned showstopper for designer Gaurav Gupta at the Lakmé Fashion Week finale, she spoke to Vogue about how her fashion choice has always been about comfort. Kareena Kapoor, according to reports, further added, “If I had my way, I would be in a kaftan right now too. Perhaps you will see me in one on the runway next time… My fashion choices have always been about comfort — casual looks that can also make a big statement. And the recent past has only magnified the need for easy looks. I won’t wear something just because it’s a trend. For example, I have been wearing biker shorts lately, not because they are trendy but because it’s so hot in Bombay right now!”

I have always loved Kareena Kapoor Khan for her candid behaviour and the fact that she speaks her mind. Her entire personality makes her extremely relatable – especially when she spoke about being in pyjamas and kaftan all day long. Honestly, with her entire take on fashion, she further highlights the importance of fashion being about comfort rather than anything else. And I love her for it.
