Giorgio Armani’s Silent Show At Milan Fashion Week Stands In Solidarity With Ukraine
The Milan Fashion Week has been a witness to silent solidarity exhibited by the invitees amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis. And being one of the first designers to stand in solidarity with the sufferers on the runway this past weekend was celebrated designer Georgio Armani. Showcasing his Fall RTW 2022-23 collection at the fashion week, the designer’s line-up was inaugurated with his voice that said “My decision not to use any music in the show was made as a sign of respect to the people affected by the evolving tragedy.” The music-less show displayed the designer’s latest creations in silence with models wearing some exquisite new designs. The heavily embellished designs walked the runway with no sign of ear-splitting beats that carve the charm of a fashion week. In a room full of sorrow and grief for the sufferers, the designer’s showcase became another brilliant example of the intertwined relationship between fashion and the world around.

While the display of wearables managed to illuminate the runway with their undeniably beautiful craftsmanship, including a lineup of blue, power suits, geometric prints, ombré fur coats and fluid constructions, the sadness refused to leave the hearts witnessing it. Penning the idea behind the silent show on the label’s official social media handles, the statement read, “Mr Armani has chosen to not use any music at the Giorgio Armani Fall Winter 2022-23 show as a sign of respect to the unfolding tragedy in Ukraine.” “The best thing to do is send a message that we don’t want to celebrate because something very disturbing is happening around us.” The collection displaying a wide-range of blues, included regal menswear outerwear like velvet coats, a mix of soft and structured tailoring, waist-coats for women, asymmetrical hemlines and emerald accessories and backdrop complimenting the multitude of blue separates.
