Trends at fashion weeks seem nothing short of gold. And as I experienced the most glam week at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2022, my eyes have captured nothing but the truckloads of styles and silhouettes that my friends is here to rule your closets. From stunning pearls to constructive silhouettes, these trendsetting designs have me excited.

Studded Accessories

From the runway to street style, designer labels like Outhouse Jewellery, Two Point Two, Nirmooha, Manish Malhotra declared the reign of studded jewellery. From box bags, glittering hair bands, to sequinned sunglasses, maximalism is creeping into jewellery kits and delivering the wow moment with every style of silhouette. Remember when Pinterest forecasted the biggest trends of 2022, with pearl core in the list? That’s true and how. From tassel bags, glossy hair embellishments to funky eye lids, pearls became a garnish for designers this year, as it came sprinkled with almost every design. Accentuating the entire look, by defining features and a hint of drama, pearls have become the hottest new additions in every design language and its surely here to stay.

Pretty Flowers

The new-age tool for revenge dressing, post the two-year long halt has found a safe space in decorative prints especially eye-popping flowers. Displaying a version of every kind, I witnessed the incorporation of flowers that are pretty and equally fierce. Applied onto breezy summer fabrics, and stuck alongside geometric patterns, flowers guided the energy for many designer showcases like by, Payal Pratap, Pramaa by Pratima Pandey, Rahul Mishra, Satya Paul and more.

There’s Never Enough Glitter

Rooting for sequins this year were designer labels Manish Malhotra, Suneet Varma, Nirmooha to Tarun Tahiliani. Replacing the old-school tiny glitter elements with bold and quirky shaped sequins, designers introduced them in almost every silhouette from exaggerated sleeves, to stunning sarees. With disco serving as the perfect theme for 2022, we can surely say that its time to get your hands on the glitter because its soon going to be everywhere.

While cutwork embroideries have resided in Indian ethnic designs for years, this season, many designers offered a distinct essence with it. With intricately designed patchwork to layered embroidered elements, designers like Pankaj Nidhi, Rahul Mishra, Manish Malhotra designed garments featuring the beauty of two and three dimensional embroidery to add a sense of depth and drama to the overall look.

Gels are sealing the deal again and the greasy, glossy hair trend is back. Opted by many designers, greasy hair became an important styling element for runway showcases. Experimenting with the wet hair look, many hairstylists adorned hair with funky jewels, created baby hair waves for a chic and neat look, much-like what Euphoria‘s Maddy would love to create.
