From Monochrome Magic, Vintage Chic To Classic Couture, Day 1 Of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week Lit Up The Runway

Day 1 at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week kickstarted with a refreshing presentation by up-and-coming designers. From khadi couture to the saree saga, designers gave a nod to festive wear, which was all parts bright and bewitching. The showstopper line-up also brought the magic of fashion runways to life, with celebrities like–Mrunal Thakur, Diana Penty, Gauahar Khan, Diipa Khosla and Kriti Sanon. Let’s take a look at some of our favourite designer presentations of the day.

Mishru’s Form And Feelings

Label Mishru’s enchanting presentation brought the festive spirit to the runway. From mesmerising lehengas in romantic red to slim-fitting separates in jewel tones, the label weaved classic occasion wear with a modern-day approach. With floral cutwork, 3D patterns and appliqués headlining the skirts and slim cholis, a massive sequin overlay highlighted the classic tonal embroidery. Walking for the label was actress Mrunal Thakur, who slid into an ethereal magenta lehenga, styled using an emerald choker and stud earrings.

Not So Serious by Pallavi Mohan

Designer Pallavi Mohan’s label was all about the undeniable charm of ivory. Making the shade of the season, the protagonist in her collection story, Pallavi Mohan played around with feather trims, sheer sequins, and champagne-coloured cocktail dresses. Getting the memo for occasion dressing right, Pallavi’s signature flat sequin embroideries, disco-ball patterns, and side cut-outs, were tailor-made using delicate fabrics. For the showcase, actress Diana Penty walked the runway in a classic cocktail dress, that featured a semi-sheer overlay of dazzling sequins, and sultry side-cut detailing, that stitched the much-required oomph.

The Homecoming Of Master Couturier Shahab Durazi

Master Couturier Shahab Durazi returned to the FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week stage, with his design genius. Brought to the runway was a glimpse of the designer’s legacy and a scintillating nostalgia stitched to his capsule collection. The range incorporated a refreshing mix of cravats, the magic of monochrome, embellished lapels and women walking with floral brooches, stitched to one side. Timeless Couture sat at the core of this collection, bold constructions and the much-needed return of tapestry bags, packed the designs with vintage chic.

Geisha Designs Brought Grandeur

Leading designer duo–Shalini Jaikaria and Paras Bairoliya’s Geisha Designs was dripping grandeur. The unique design philosophy was presented through the designers’ Luminescent collection which brought forth the flavours of glittering flowers, 3D florals and a heavy mix of fabrics. Pantsuits walked the runway with an updated party twist, alongside twirl-worthy gowns and intricate cord work. The colour palette exchanged highlighter hues with jewel tones and lustrous colours. Headlining the showcase was content creator and entrepreneur–Diipa Khosla, who dazzled in a black ensemble, inspired by the Garden Of Eden.

Shantnu Nikhil And The Chandelier Story

Designers Shantnu and Nikhil loaned inspiration from the charm of chandeliers. With models walking to Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” past the twinkling chandeliers, the stage replicated the mood boards of the design. With cholis resonating with resort wear bikinis, and precious Swarovski, forming dreamy embroideries, the collection struck a balance between old-worldly allure and theatrical silhouettes. Sitting as the backdrop were loosely tied, velvet curtains in red, that infused a touch of royalty and showcased its stark contrast with the colour theory of the collection. Cape dupattas, embellished cashmere and asymmetrical veils, were some of the biggest highlights of the collection. And walking for the designers was actress–Kriti Sanon, who walked the runway in her self-confessed heavier-than-ever lehenga.
