FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week Ended On A Glittering Note, With A Day Full Of Fluid Fashion And Body Positive Designs

Day 5 of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2022, served many looks and was a glimmering conclusion to the week of glam. From hand work lehengas, fluid fashion to the 80s disco style, designers displayed their creations yesterday and concluded the last day at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week’22.

Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Singh

The first half of day 5, started with a collection showcase by Abhishek Sharma. Titled– ‘Crystalline Fern’ Abhishek took cues from crystallised mineral rocks and Indian ferns for the curation of his silhouettes. Ruled by crystal hues, the collection included a lineup of evening wear with tassels, glitter lines and beaded weaves gracing them. And turning as the perfect showstopper for his designs was designer Rohit Bal. The next designer in line was Rahul Singh’s spring update to Indian ethnic wear. Titled–’Ziba Bahaar,’ Rahul played along with feathers, scalloped borders and handwork over fabrics like silk, chanderi and organza for sheen evening wear silhouettes like lehengas, capes and embellished jackets.

6Degree’s Stunning Line-Up Of Designers

Designers Roma Agarwal, Sejal Kamdar, Varun Chakkilam, Keerthi Kadire, displayed their limited collection, in different intervals, as presented by 6Degree. Serving a similar sense of aesthetic, the four designers brought on stage a mix of festive wear, catering to varied colour palettes. While, the extremely limited collection, had a classic approach to Indian ethnic designs, I was impressed with the showstopper attires as donned by actresses Divya Khosla Kumar, Nargis Fakhri, Pooja Hegde and Kangana Ranaut.

aLL: The Plus Size Store

aLL brought together the shades of summer with its all-new collection. Incorporating floral and tropical designs in the lineup, aLL’s plus size range was all about vibrance and summer. And turning muse to the label’s collection was actress Neha Dhupia, who walked in a long deep-cut summer dress with a long sheer white jacket layered over it. Joining Neha was also content creator Sakshi Sindwani, who walked the ramp for the label. While I loved the energy brought to the stage by models, I hoped to see more experimental looks, fun cuts, with some distance from the bold prints and frills.

Siddhartha Tytler

Rooting for a gender-fluid closet, Siddhartha Tytler’s new collection, provided veils to male models, with butterfly sheer jackets, and wave skirts. Equally fierce and feminine, the collection incorporated stunning monochrome corsets, blazers paired with handwork lehenga and some fun experiments with face paint. Turning showstopper for the designer were celebrities Aditya Seal and Neha Kapur.

Pawan Sachdeva

Designer Pawan Sachdeva’s collection was a celebration of colours and classics. Curating a line-up of high octane shades, Pawan designed some fabulous power suits for men (wish I could steal at least one). With colourful lapels, turtlenecks, leather pants, stripes and monochrome geometric prints, Pawan’s latest collection were similar to his work aesthetic which has been loved by celebrities like Ayushmann Khurrana, Sidharth Malhotra and more. And turning muse for the designer line-up was actor Aparshakti Khurrana and politician Raghav Chadha who took over the runway in style.

Reynu And Nikhita Taandon

Designers Reynu Taandon and Nikhita Tandon’s latest Pret Resort collection for their label I Am Worth It played along the lines of prints, seashells, and cut-outs. With the show opened by content creator Nitibha Kaul, and closed by actress Urvashi Rautela, waist cuts ruled throughout the collection. With a burst of bohemia and pixelated prints, the lineup included multi-tier maxi dresses and summer separates.

Falguni Shane Peacock

Designers Falguni Shane Peacock brought home the glittering glam alongside their signature feather designs. Replete with scintillating sequins, models paraded in pop shades of green, red and violet. Consisting of statement-making designs, the collection titled– Earthbound, brought together the glam of the 80s through Scorpio embroidered bodysuits, fur tails, dramatic shoulders, glass heels, and funky jackets. The collection perfectly matched the Lakmé Absolute Explore Eye collection, which included truckloads of glitter and structured silhouettes. And closing the show and the week of glam, was actress Ananya Panday who looked nothing less than a glam doll in a fuchsia pink, strapless dress followed by a long train. Absolutely worth travelling back in time.
