Unfolding The Fabulous Fashion Of ‘Emily In Paris’ Season 2! Get Right In

The much-awaited Netflix show Emily In Paris, season 2 is all set to serve us with an exciting new platter of narrative and fashion that is daring and dreamy. Based on the life of an ambitious twenty-something marketing executive from Chicago- Emily and her adventures in the city of love and lights Paris, the next instalment of the popular title will be returning with a roster of some old and new characters. Apart from the unstitched love tale of Emily and Gabriel, what will take the centre stage yet again is the outlandish and amazing wardrobe of the former. With bucket hats returning for the next season, boaters, flouncy tulles, fringed handbags, violet ensembles and multi-patterned attires will headline Emily’s closet.

And with costume designer Patricia Field (known for her work in The Devil Wears Prada and The Sex And The City) and costume stylist Marylin Fitoussi curating the show’s fashion script, the arrival of season 2 becomes all the more irresistible. Followed by the criticism served to the main character’s sartorial choices imposed by many French fashion designers and stylists in the previous season of the show, our hopes for the upcoming season are sky-high and there’s no doubt about it. I mean expecting a new-age ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ in the joyous Emily is a little too much to ask for but with what the trailer has presented, all we know is that the fashion is going to get even bigger and colourful.

“Too much good taste can be boring” is what stitches together Emily’s vibrant wearables, as mentioned by Marylin Fitoussi. She further adds “I didn’t want in season 2 for Emily to become too chic. Emily being too chic or too French would have meant that her personality was no longer as strong.” Representing an array of shades, patterns, fabrics, frills and futuristic-playful silhouettes, Emily’s character defines her personality (which is chirpy and at times confused, just like some styles she pairs together).

While the fashion luminary Patricia Field mentioned, “It was very important for me for season 2 not to repeat season 1. I wanted to show our audience some new ideas…I wanted to introduce these gloves that I personally enjoy wearing. Gloves were from a bygone time, and today the only reason we wear gloves is to stay warm when it’s cold. So it’s a new accessory, in a way, for this generation, but it’s a young accessory.” And I believe the gloves are surely returning for the best.

Portraying a stand-out aesthetic, Lily Collins who plays the lead Emily Cooper carries off the sprightful silhouettes with utmost charm. From Sophia off-shoulder midi dress with inverted hearts, lemon vertigo short jacket, season’s favourite ruffles, loads of checks to offbeat footwear with boots heading the rack, each piece is here to make a statement.

Looking like an alluring, colourful portrait alongside her co-characters like Gabriel who displays his autumn colour palette, Mindy in bold, dramatic cuts, Camielle offering a slice of French fashion and Sylvie in care-free silhouettes, each member expresses a distinct fashion language that supports their narrative in the show.

And as much as I am excited to gift my vision the visual of gorgeous Gabriel, I am looking forward to the fun and a mix of some big labels making it to this season in Emily Cooper’s closet.

Comprising of 10 episodes, season 2 of Emily In Paris will hit the screens on December 22, 2021, and can I please scream thinking that it’s just two days away?
