From Anju Modi’s Damayanti To Satya Paul’s Flavoured Fantasy, Day 2 Of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week Carved Conversations Around Sustainability
Day 2 at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week was a celebration of sustainable fashion. From fabric play, and neutral tones to conscious clothing sitting at its core, designers like Anju Modi, Rina Singh’s Eka, and Satya Paul brought their distinct design ideologies to the stage. Let’s have a look at some of our favourite designer presentations.
Eka
Designer Rina Singh hosted a Victorian tea party. Her ode to romantic fashion was coupled with layers, candy colours and gingham galore. The unusual model lineup spoke about the collection title- It’s only a dream. Funky, platform sliders featured floral attachments and two-tier skirts, adorned with bow ties. With the spotlight running towards the tea-pot chandelier and dreamy silhouettes walking the runway in lighter fabrics, the colours were all about summer.

Anju Modi
Designer Anju Modi’s experiments with sustainable fashion happily soaked in all the spotlight. Presenting her design genius was her latest collection Damayanti, which aimed to offer a sense of comfortable luxury. For Modi, the category of ethnic wear is a known territory. The presentation promised the return of classic colour combinations, nauvari sarees, sherwanis for women, packaged with chandrakor tilak and traditional Maharashtrian accessories. Walking for the designer was actress Sanjana Sanghi, who channelled her version of minimal glam on the stage.

Abraham & Thakore
Designer duo- Abraham & Thakore presented a slice of their legacy in design. The juxtaposition of unexpected contemporary elements and classics was a treat to watch. Their signature monochromes entered the room through stripes, palazzo pants, sequin sarees, bellowing sleeves and the return of the churidaar.

Satya Paul
One of my favourite presentations from the evening was brought to life by Satya Paul. Fantasy, flavours and techni-colours found a match in holographic sneakers, latex pants, and silhouettes that reminded us of the world of fantasy. What also caught my attention was the model lineup that incorporated skateboarders, ballerinas, cyclists, and women posing on moving trolleys. In the world of uncertainty, imagination breathed through glitter faces, space buns, and rhinestone eyes.
