Jee Le Zaraa is set to be an all-female road trip movie. Recently, Zoya Akhtar revealed during the Film Companion roundtable that Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif contacted her because Priyanka Chopra Jonas had called them wanting to do a film together. Zoya also added that the actresses were not aware of the fact that Farhan had pitched a similar idea. She said, “Farhan had an idea that he had bounced, saying ‘I want to do this with girls’. He had come up with it and wanted to do this. He had told me one line. And very independently I was contacted by the actresses (Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif) not knowing about Farhan saying that, ‘We want to work together’ because Priyanka had called them. It just aligned. And I think if this had happened 10 years ago, it would have happened if these were the same players,” according to the reports.
The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara director praised the three actresses and is really excited about the film Jee Le Zaraa. She mentioned that their willingness to work together is one of the main reasons why the film is in production. Praising the actors, the ace filmmaker said, “They are huge, three of them, they are amazing and they are massive. And what’s beautiful about them is that they are distinct personalities. There’s nobody that’s like the other”.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas had mentioned that she thinks that there are not enough Hindi movies that include an all-female cast and it led to an impulsive phone call to her two real friends including Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. She pitched the idea to them involving 3 on-screen girlfriends and that’s how a celebration of friendship began.

We are very excited about the film because it will tell the story of female friendship and it is quite unique concept for Bollywood where films are usually male-dominated. Apart from directing the film, Farhan Akhtar has also written the script of the film with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
