YLPH: Balika Vadhu Fame Avika Gor Says Love From Telugu Industry Made Her Not Want To Return To Mumbai!

As kids, most of us have watched television serials with our moms after coming home from school and then catching the latest episodes of some other show in the evening. In times when there were no OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hotstar, it was television serials that kept us entertained. And the one shows that most of us watched was Balika Vadhu. From 2008 to 2016, this show about child marriage aired on Colors TV. Balika Vadhu made child actor Avika Gor a household name after she played the lead role for about 2 years. This child artist is now a 26-year-old actress who has gained immense popularity down South. In the latest episode of, Yeh Ladki Pagal Hai, Avika Gor opened up about her being a child actor, Balika Vadhu, Telugu Cinema, her career graph, body image issues and a lot more.

Speaking to Hauterrfly’s Confused Kudi, Pavni Mehrotra, Avika Gor spoke about her acting journey and going from playing Anandi in Balika Vadhu to starring in over 15 Telugu films. Discussing the beginning of her acting journey, the actress shared that she was around 7.5 years old when she started acting. “I started pretty early. It has been an interesting ride even before Balika Vadhu, which not many people know of. But ya, it’s been exciting. I love it,” said the actress.

When Pavni asked where Avika Gor has been all these years, the actress shared, “I’ve been with my Telugu audience. I’ve done over 15 films there. Main ab aadhi Telugu ban chuki hoon. I’ve been loved so much wahan pe ki mera bohot kam mann karta tha ki main Mumbai wapis aaun. Mera mann karta tha main bas Hyderabad mein hi ruki rahun (I’ve become half-Telugu now and all the love I received in the Telugu industry did not make me want to return to Mumbai. I just wanted to stay in Hyderabad).”

Speaking further about working in the Telugu film industry, Avika Gor said, “I think I’ve made a lot of good friends there and company bhi kaafi achi lagti thi wahan pe, industry ke logon ki bhi. I think that was the reason I did back-to-back films there. And touchwood, I’ve got a lot of love from people there and I have won an award and success and everything there. I’ve got everything there. So, I would continue to do that.”
