Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The first part of the project will be released on Diwali 2026. Amid this, a recent report suggests that the film will not be released in the same version globally, and that the version released in China will be 33 minutes shorter than the Indian version. About Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana

A report by Mid-Day revealed that according to China’s Film Industry Promotion Law, any content undermining the state’s religious policies or promoting superstition will be prohibited. The Ramayana also needs approval from China’s censorship system, and given that it’s an Indian epic, it could affect how they present devotional elements in the Chinese version. The report also stated that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer could revive the neighbouring country’s interest in Indian cinema, which got affected after diplomatic tensions post the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.

The trailer for Ramayan was released in July with Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Kapoor as Lord Ram, and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film was under scrutiny after the trailer release, with many questioning the VFX used. And during a chat with The Collider, director Nitesh Tiwari confirmed that they were finishing the last VFX touches and that it is very “hard to do.” Kapoor also addressed the criticism around the film and went on to talk about the hard work and effort that goes behind it. He stated that the director and other artists sit for hours to get everything right, even the colour of the sky. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know.
