Seungkwan and Dino will enlist together in an Army military band, while Mingyu will start alternative service in September. Fans have known this time would come, yet the news still feels heavy for many who follow the group closely every day. As per reports, Mingyu will start his alternative service on September 10. Seungkwan and Dino will join the military band together on October 26. Until those dates, all three will keep taking part in Seventeen’s planned activities and appearances. After they begin service, they cannot join group activities. The company noted that the members prepared different kinds of content ahead of time so they can still stay in touch with fans during their time away.
Pledis also asked fans not to go to the service locations or training sites. This request aims to protect the privacy and safety of the members, other people serving, and their families. The agency hopes fans will send warm messages through official channels instead.
For the unversed, Seventeen’s military chapter is already well underway. Jeonghan finished his service and returned in June 2026, becoming the first member to do so. Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi are currently serving. Later this year, Vernon is set to begin on August 20 and DK on September 8, followed by Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino. Four members do not have to serve: S. Coups received an exemption after a serious knee injury; Joshua holds U.S. citizenship, and both Jun and The8 are Chinese citizens.
Fans can look forward to the members returning healthy in the years ahead and to a full thirteen-member comeback once everyone’s service is complete.
