What To Watch January 23 to 29: Pathaan, Shotgun Wedding, And More

An almost long and patriotic weekend is just around the corner. With Republic Day on January 26, Thursday, I’m sure most of y’all have taken a leave on Friday to make it a four-day long weekend. This means that this weekend most of us have all the time in the world to binge-watch. And guess what? The last weekend of January 2023 has some interesting films and series releases for us to have a whole marathon! So, without further ado, check out this list of all the new films and series releasing this week so you don’t have wonder what to watch!

1. Pathaan (Theatres)

Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Pathaan is the fourth film of the YRF Spy Universe. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia, this film is scheduled for a theatrical release a day before Republic Day on January 25.

2. Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh (Theatres)

This film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi stars Deepak Antani, Chinmay Mandlekar and Tanisha Santoshi. It showcases an alternate world where Mahatma Gandhi survives after being attacked by Nathuram Godse and goes on to meet him in jail which turns into a rather interesting debate. Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh hits the big screen on January 26.

3. Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke (Zee5)

This action thriller series starring Regina Cassandra, Barun Sobti, Mita Vashisht, Summet Vyas and Chandan Roy has been directed by Srijit Mukherji. Produced by Juggernaut Productions, this series will premiere on the OTT platform Zee5 on January 26.

4. Shotgun Wedding (Lionsgate Play)

This 2022 romantic action comedy film featuring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel is set to premiere on the OTT platform Lionsgate Play on January 27. It follows the story of a couple whose destination wedding turns scary after guests are taken hostage by some gunmen.

5. You People (Netflix)

Directed by Kenya Barris, You People is a comedy drama film starring Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lauren London, Jonah Hill, Molly Gordon, Sam Jay, Nia Long, Mike Epps, Deon Cole, David Duchovny and Rhea Perlman. It revolves around the drama and clashes that happen after 2 people from culturally different backgrounds fall in love but their meeting with the parents turns chaotic. This 2023 film is set to release on the OTT platform Netflix on January 27.

6. Lockwood & Co (Netflix)

This British investigative thriller series is based on a book series of the same name written by Jonathan Stroud. This 8-episode series is about 3 teens who turn into paranormal investigators in order to unravel a conspiracy that might change the world as they know it. Lockwood & Co premieres on the streaming giant Netflix on January 27.

7. The Snow Girl (Netflix)

This Spanish thriller mystery series follows a journalist Miren, who is on a mission to find a little girl called Amaya who went missing during a parade. This series is based on a book written by Javier Castillo. The Snow Girl will stream on Netflix from January 27 onwards.

8. Raangi (Netflix)

Directed by M Saravanan, this action thriller film starring Trisha Krishnan in the lead role was released in theatres on December 30, 2022. It revolves around a journalist and her niece who land in trouble with the authorities after getting entangled with a terrorist organisation. The Tamil-language film releases on Netflix on Sunday, January 29.

So, gear up to catch some interesting content this week. Psst….Ayushmann Khurrana’s action comedy film An Action Hero is also releasing on Netflix on January 27.
