Weekend Watchlist: ‘RRR’, ‘Bridgerton’, ‘Halo The Series’, ‘Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu’

It’s Friday once again. Don’t we all just love Fridays? As we prepare to spend our weekend indulging ourselves, if like me you don’t have anything much to do, I recommend you take the weekend to catch up on some interesting shows and binge-watch all the new releases. After that Holi party wala weekend, we all are in dire need of some time to chill, relax and unwind. I’m planning on taking a nice long warm bath and then curling up in bed with my laptop and a glass of wine and bingeing on some good content. And the word is that this weekend has a lot to offer us all. So, I took the liberty to put together a weekend watchlist of all the movies and series you can binge on either at home or maybe you can just hit the theatre to catch up on something interesting. Read on to find out all about the latest releases this week.

1. RRR

Directed by SS Rajamouli, this Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Jr NTR starrer, RRR was released in the theatres on March 25. Set in the pre-independence era, this film revolves around two legendary revolutionaries and their fight against the Britishers.

2. Pachinko

Created by Soo Hugh, Pachinko stars Yuh-Jung Yeon, Minah Kim, and Lee Minho. This family drama was released on Apple TV+ on March 25. The series revolves around the life of four generations of a Korean immigrant family and their journey across three countries and the challenges they face.

3. Valimai

Starring Ajith Kumar, Huma Qureshi, VJ Bani, Janhvi Kapoor and Yami Gautam, Valimai is a Tamil language movie produced by Zee Studios and Bayview Projects. It revolves around a police officer on a mission to find a group of bikers involved in a theft and murder. This movie was released on OTT platform Zee5 on March 25.

4. Bridgerton Season 2

Season two of this Regency-era drama set in England is starring Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran and Jonathan Bailey is streaming on the OTT platform Netflix from March 25 onwards.

5. Halo

Produced by Steven Spielberg, this Paramount+ series stars Shabana Azmi, Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Bokeem Woodbine, Jen Taylor, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, Kate Kennedy, Danny Sapani, Olive Gray and Charlie Murphy. It was released on March 24 on the OTT platform Voot Select.

6. Parallels

Released on March 23 on Disney+ Hotstar, this series starring Jules Houplain, Naidra Ayadi, Guillaume Labbé, Gil Alma, Dimitri Storoge and Thomas Chomel revolves around the lives of four friends whose lives are turned upside down after a mysterious event messes with their timelines.

7. Dune

This 2021 critically acclaimed, awarding-winning Oscar-nominated film starring Zendaya, Chani, Timothée Chalamet, Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac follows the story of a man who arrives on a dangerous planet called Arrakis and the chaos that ensues. This 2021 film has released on Amazon Prime Video on March 25.

8. Bheemla Nayak

Directed by Saagar K Chandra, this Telugu movie has released on the OTT platform Aha Video on March 25. Starring Pawan Kalyan, Samuktha Menon, Nithya Menen and Rana Daggubati, this film follows the story of an upright police officer and a retired Army personnel and how things change after these two clash.

9. Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U

Singer Olivia Rodrigo’s documentary directed by Stacey Lee titled Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from March 25 onwards. This documentary revolves around the memories of the singer writing and creating her record-breaking debut album.

10. Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls

Airing on Amazon Prime Video on March 25, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is an eight-episode reality show that follows a dance competition that is hosted by pop singer/fashion icon Lizzo as she looks for backup dancers for her tour.

11. Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu

Directed by Raja Ramamurthy starring Aksara Haasan, Anjana Jayaprakash and Usha Uthup, this film is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on March 25.
