April Weekend Watchlist: ‘Dasvi’, ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’, ‘Gullak’, ‘The Lost City’ And More

Friday is here and as much as we miss long weekends, weekend, weekend hota hai! And what is a weekend if you don’t get to binge on movies and series? Just like every Friday, this Friday too we’ll be serving you with a list of all the best weekend watches to catch up on to unplug. After all, weekends are all about partying, binging and chilling. This week has witnessed some great releases that you don’t want to miss out on. So, without further ado, let’s dive in.

1. Dasvi

This social comedy film starring Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles released on OTT platforms Netflix and Jio Cinema on April 7. Written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Tushar Jalota, this film has been produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films in collaboration with Jio Studios and Bake My Cake Film. It revolves around the importance of education.

2. Gullak Season 3

Written by Durgesh Singh, created by Shreyansh Pandey and directed by Palash Vaswani, season 3 of the web series Gullak released on the OTT platform SonyLIV on April 7. This comedy drama series starring Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Harsh Mayar and Vaibhav Raj Gupta is produced by The Viral Fever aka TVF.

3. All The Old Knives

Starring Chris Pine, Thandiwe Newton and Laurence Fishburne, this thriller revolves around a veteran CIA agent Henry Pelham and his former lover and colleague Celia Harrison who are assigned to discover the identity of a CIA operative who is leaking information that has led to a lot of loss of life. Produced by Chockstone Pictures and Jackson Pictures, this thriller film has been directed by Janus Metz Pedersen. It released on Amazon Prime Video on April 8.

4. Return To Space

This Netflix documentary directed by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi follows Elon Musk and SpaceX engineers as they embark on their mission to send NASA astronauts to the International Space Station and revolutionize space travel. It released on the OTT platform Netflix on April 77.

5. The King’s Man

The third instalment of the British Kingsman film series, The King’s Man is a prequel to the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service and the 2017 film Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The spy action film has been written and directed by Matthew Vaughn. It stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. The film released on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.

6. Etharkkum Thunindhavan

This Tamil-language action thriller directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sun Pictures, stars Suriya, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and Vinay Rai. It follows the story of Kannabiran who turns into a vigilante to fight against the violence against women in India. The film released on Netflix on April 7.

7. Abhay Season 3

Season 3 of the cop drama, Abhay, starring Kunal Kemmu in the lead role and Vijay Raaz, Tanuj Virwani, Divya Agarwal, Asha Negi, Nidhi Singh and Rahul Dev in supporting roles has released on the OTT platform Zee5 on April 8. The series has been directed by Ken Ghosh.

8. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The fantasy drama directed by David Yates is a sequel to the 2018 film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Starring Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen, the screenplay for the film has been written by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. It has released in the theatres on April 8.

9. The Lost City

This 2022 action-adventure comedy film starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe has released in the theatres on April 8. It has been directed by the Nee brothers, Aaron nee and Adam Nee.

10. Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy

Directed by Sebastian DiNatale, Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy is a Netflix special stand-up comedy show starring comedian Ronny Chieng. It released on the OTT platform on April 5.

11. A Hero

Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, this Iranian film stars Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh and Sahar Goldoost. It was also nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. A Hero has released in the theatres on April 8.
