‘The Next 365 Days’ Ending Explained: Does Laura Choose Massimo Or Nacho?

The audience went on a spin when 365 Days was released on Netflix in June 2020. The excitement and buzz around the film were such that those who had not watched the film felt the real FOMO! And then the news was dropped that 365 days is a trilogy was dropped and the world went berserk! Having watched the first film, I was not as enthusiastic about it as everyone else was but I understood the hype around it. An Italian mafia boss kidnapping a woman and giving her 365 days to fall in love with him was a total fantasy plot that a lot of Wattpad readers had been dreaming about!

But it just went downhill from here. The second part titled, 365 Days: This Day, was worse when it came to the plot, the acting and the randomness of the sex in it. The sliver of hope was the third film in the series titled, The Next 365 Days, which I thought would miraculously revive the entire trilogy but my dreams were shattered when it just hopelessly went down the drain.

Warning: Contains major spoilers ahead!

If you have watched The Next 365 Days so you must know what I am talking about. I was all the more pissed when the makers decided to leave the film open-ended! There was absolutely no reason for that. Given how Laura was unable to make a decision about her own life when Massimo kidnaps her and demands she fall in love with him, I was kinda expecting her to just stand up for herself against all the bossing around he was subjecting her to in the final part at least. But then Nacho entered the picture and I don’t know what magic did his dick do that Laura was left all the more clueless about her own life. Like, girl, no dick is that good or worth having your life effed up over!

For those who have watched the film, and have not understood the ending of The Next 365 Days, here’s an explainer on the same.

So Nacho risks his life and enters Siciliy knowing very well that if Massimo came to know 0f it, he would kill him. But despite that, he comes to pick Laura up from the airport after her Portugal trip just to confess his love for her and to tell her that he will wait for her as long as it takes. Firstly, this scene was so unnecessary because both of them had banging sex on the beach, and no, I am not naming a cocktail here. They quietly literally crash in waves (pun intended)! He said the same things to her then as well, therefore, this scene was totally not needed.

Then, Laura’s sister Olga tells her that Massimo has come to know of her sexy times with Nacho on the beach and is seemingly very pissed about it. At that very moment, there is a determination on Laura’s face which made me think that maybe, now she will take charge of her life, stand up for herself and pull herself out of this mess. She meets Massimo, who is surprisingly very calm about the whole cheating ordeal and instead tries to understand why Laura did not come to him after she lost their baby.

Laura asks him if he knew that she had cheated on him and why didn’t he do anything about it. To this, Massimo responds by saying a filmy dialogue, “If you really love something, just let it go. If it comes back, it’s yours forever. If it doesn’t, it was never meant to be.”Masimo being understanding was shocking in itself, to be honest! He also seems forgiving about cheating with Nacho. And then, he goes on to ask Laura, “Are you back, baby girl?” Laura is clearly conflicted about her feelings for Massimo as she had confessed to her mother that she loves Nacho.

While we were waiting for Laura’s response, the camera just panned toward her face where she just has a very black expression. Now, she has to choose who she wants to be with, something she should have done long ago! Plus, there is a fourth film coming out that will focus on Laura’s decision. Also, for those who are not aware, the film series is based on Blanka Lipińska’s books.
