We are not screaming, okay?
Anusha Dandekar: “It Is Not Okay To Make Me Feel Crazy For Talking Passionately”. Louder For The Ones At The Back!

As a woman, I have been told by my own family members that I need to lower my voice even if I was talking normally. ‘There is no need to “scream”‘, they said. It frustrated me immensely that my own family members thought this way. And later I realised that it was not just me but also a lot of women who experienced this. The ones who ask women to lower their voices don’t realise that women have to raise their voices because they are never heard. In the latest episode of The Male Feminist, Anusha Dandekar opens up about how she, too, has been told not to “scream” when she was just talking passionately.

In a conversation with Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Anusha Dandekar revealed how she has been asked to lower her voice or not “scream” while talking. She said, “When I am passionate about a conversation, people think I am screaming.” She also displayed the various levels of vocal deliveries before she actually was screaming. She said when she is saying something is not acceptable to her in her normal voice, she is not screaming.

Anusha Dandekar also said firmly said that people should not make women feel crazy or manipulate them into thinking that they are doing something that has offended the opposite person. She highlighted a hard-hitting point by saying that when women are being made to feel crazy they feel the need to apologise constantly. She also went on to say that women apologise for no reason anyway so they should not be given a reason to do that more often.

Anusha highlighted that if she is passionately speaking then she is just putting forward her point of view which she was allowed to have after many centuries and she will also let you have yours.

I resonated with this on a personal level with Anusha on this. Women get frustrated when you do not listen to them or make them feel that their opinions do not matter. So, men need to keep their egos aside and actually open their ears to hear what a woman is saying.
