Adah Sharma Says Muslim Girl Who Abused Director Changed Her Mind After Watching The Kerala Story

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, The Kerala Story has been constantly making headlines for both, the controversies around it as well as for its success. While the film has been banned in West Bengal, several other states have made it tax-free. In spite of the controversies and being called Islamophobic, the film has managed to make over Rs 200 crore since its release. And now, actress Adah Sharma has opened up about the film being trashed for false data and being termed Islamophobic.

In a recent chat with an entertainment portal, Adah Sharma shared an interesting story of a Muslim girl who would abuse director Sudipto Sen ever since the trailer was released for making an Islamophobic film. The actress said that the Muslim girl would abuse him every single day over the film however, after she watched the movie she sent him a text highlighting that she praised him for making The Kerala Story. The actress further added that the girl told Sudipto that he is doing a service to Islam by showcasing how people are misusing Islam but their religion isn’t like that. Adah revealed that the comment made the director very happy and he has even pinned the comment.

Speaking about religion and faith, Adah Sharma said that she does not think any religion or saint would tell people to do anything that is “detrimental to humanity”. She went on to add that something has to be wrong with a person to kill human beings. Expressing her gratitude to live in a free nation, the actress said that she is glad that we all have freedom of speech and opinion in our country and one isn’t beheaded for their opinion and where she can wear lipstick without being punished for her. She then requested people to watch the film before forming an opinion. Adah concluded by stating that even if people choose to not watch the film and share their opinion, that is also allowed in our country and she’s happy about the same.

For the unversed, The Kerala Story stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles. The film follows a story of a group of women who were forced to convert to Islam and join ISIS. The film initially claimed that about 32000 women from Kerala were forced into religious conversion and joined Islamic militant groups however, there is no official data to back the claims made by the film and the filmmakers. The Indian government data as well as that from the Observer Research Foundation claims that not more than 100 to 200 Indians joined ISIS and not all of them were from Kerala.
