Sona Mohapatra Backs Falguni Pathak On Her Criticism Of Neha Kakkar’s Remake, Hopes Song Producers Take Note Of Backlash

And that is justified!

You all would agree when I say that we prefer some songs to be untouched, meaning the way that it is. We don’t want new remakes to it or new voices for it, we are absolutely content with the old versions of those songs. Yes, but we are open to getting some original additions to our playlist. Most of us appreciate the new songs in recent times too. But lately, the trend in Bollywood, particularly with songs has just been about remaking old songs, which people are most often calling out now. Like the recent Neha Kakkar and Falguni Pathak social media fight on the remake of ‘Maine Payal Hai Chankai’. The fan’s outrage was legit seen when Neha released her version of this ’90s song. And to support Falguni here, we have another singer, Sona Mohapatra.

I agree that the voice of the public really has the power to change. And we definitely need our voices to be heard when it comes to unnecessary remakes. And so does, Sona Mohapatra. The voice behind some of my favorite songs like ‘O Re Chairaiya’, and ‘Ambarsariya’ among others, Sona Mohapatra has spoken up on the clash between Falguni Pathak and Neha Kakkar. The artist took to her social media account to put forth her feelings on the whole issue. She, very clearly stated that Bollywood song producers are restricting creativity and talent by simply using the existing songs for remixes and remakes. She then went on to urge the creative people to consider the recent “backlash” that happened with Falguni Pathak’s song. Sona Mohapatra also requested the public to raise their voice more often on this.

Sona Mohapatra also slammed the recent remake of the Sri Lankan song, ‘Manike Mage’. Calling it “puke worthy”, the singer gave this example to back her previous statements about the remixes.

I hope this is seriously taken into consideration by Bollywood. We are all just so done with remakes now. India has no shortage of talent and clearly, the opportunities should not be limited in the industry.
