One of my favourite types of movies to watch are satires and dark comedies. I feel like there is a fine line between dark humour and blatant insensitivity. A well done dark comedy makes the audience aware of the gravity of the situation while highlighting the absurd nuances of the situation, eliciting a few laughs and chuckles. And so I am very excited to see Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga written and directed by Srijit Mukherji starring Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta. T-Series and Reliance Entertainment have collaborated with Match Cut Productions to make this film happen.
Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga is a dark comedy and satire inspired by the true events of the tragic practices in the village that border the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Sayani Gupta took to social media and posted glimpses of the film making me even more excited to watch Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga. Director Mukherji has said that the film revolves around the heroism it takes for one to put his own life before his family’s and the man-nature conflict.

In case you are unaware, Srijit Mukherji has won multiple National Awards and has directed critically acclaimed films like Autograph, Jaatishwar, Chotushkone, Rajkahini, Ek Je Chilo Raja and others in Bengali. Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga will be his second Hindi film after Begum Jaan. So yeah, this is a film you should be looking forward to!
