Pankaj Tripathi Reveals How His Wife Mridula Supported Him Financially During His Struggling Days

Pankaj Tripathi is one of those self-made actors in the industry that spent years struggling, until a breakout role got them the eyeballs they deserved. For him, it was his role in Gangs of Wasseypur that propelled him into recognition, and from then on, he hasn’t looked back. However, the humble actor, who has carved quite the niche for himself and become a reliable talent to have onboard, hasn’t left the lessons from his struggling days behind. In fact, while he has played several female ally characters on screen, like in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and most recently, Mimi, Pankaj Tripathi is just as much of an ally to the women in his life too. You should hear him speak about his wife, Mridula!

During a recent interview, the actor, fresh off his film Mimi starring Kriti Sanon, talked about how during his struggling days, it was his wife who supported him financially. She paid bills and rent, while he roamed around looking for work.

He told Navbharat Times, “During those days of struggle, Mridula was running the house. From house rent to basic necessities, she used to take care of everything.”

Things have now changed for Pankaj Tripathi, where he is the attraction of many a films. Take Mimi, for example, which since its trailer release itself, assured fans that it would be an enjoyable watch, majorly because Pankaj Tripathi was in it, reuniting with his Bareilly Ki Barfi costar, Kriti Sanon. As he further elaborated, now filmmakers are willing to offer him roles while sitting in parking lots, and even inquire about what time is suitable for him and his conveniences!

The actor has previously, along with his wife, advocated for a democratic style of parenting that leads by example, especially when it comes to raising their teenage daughter.

“I always tell my daughter that we can only guide you from our experience. The day you become an adult, you will explore the world and live your life on your own terms. I can only give her guidance; it is upto her to accept it or reject it. Agar aap unhe freedom dete hain aur ek democratic mahaul dete hain, toh voh kuch gadbad kaam nahi karengi.

There’s definitely a lot to learn not just from the characters that Pankaj Tripathi plays on screen but the person himself!
