Selena Gomez’s name once again started trending alongside her mother, Mandy Teefey. This happened after their mental health startup, Wondermind, which is also co-founded by Daniella Pierson, faced a federal lawsuit that reportedly accused them of misrepresenting its business prospects, celebrity partnerships, leadership and product development. The lawsuit reportedly seeks to recover almost $1.2 million in investments, along with damages. Know all the details about it below!
Details About The Lawsuit Against Selena Gomez’s Wondermind
According to the media reports, the lawsuit against Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey and Daniella Peirson’s Wondermind was filed by two investment entities that funded the company, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind SPV I LLC. The founders have been accused of making multiple promises that never came to fruition. Investors reportedly recalled being told that they would launch the Wondermind app, secure major advertising partnerships and feature celebrity cover stories to elevate its growth; however, none of this happened. Investors also alleged that they received few updates, while communications from the company presented an overly positive picture of Wondermind’s financial condition and operations. The lawsuit also claimed that the startup promised Selena Gomez’s involvement in the company as head of marketing and public relations and that she allegedly purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then “ignored it.” The lawsuit added that the initiatives never materialised. The founders, officers, and directors allegedly remained silent for three years as the company quietly collapsed around the investors whose money was funding the business.
What Else Did Lawsuit Mention?
According to the reports, the lawsuit against Wondermind mentioned two reports that were published in 2025 as evidence that the startup was going through internal issues. It included Forbes’ “’Smoke And Mirrors’: How This Entrepreneur Exaggerated And Self-Promoted Her Way Into Turmoil.” The lawsuit reportedly alleged that after the report was published, Mandy Teefey accused Daniella Peirson of misappropriating funds to pay for her expensive lifestyle, including her $60,000 monthly rent for her New York City apartment. It was claimed that the investors were not informed of those claims before the Forbes article was published. Additionally, the lawsuit also mentioned The Cut’s article “What Happened at Wondermind?” It reportedly talked about Mandy Teefey’s alleged substance abuse struggles and Selena Gomez distancing herself from the startup due to disagreements with her mother and Daniella Pierson leaving after her dispute with Mandy Teefey. The complaint mentioned that the said article reflected that, from the outset, Wondermind didn’t have any plan for its future, much less a plan for achieving a multi-billion dollar valuation.
