What Is The Controversy?

Diljit Dosanjh starrer Satluj is facing a lot of controversy. After three years of censorship struggles, the film was finally released on Zee5, but unfortunately, it was taken down after one day. It has found itself in a new row. According to an NDTV report, Advocate Vineet Jindal had filed a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs. In this complaint, he alleged that Diljit Dosanjh and Honey Trehan’s film Satluj “sympathises with terrorism, violent extremism related to the Punjab’s insurgency in the 1980s and 1990s. He also alleged that the film “spreads misinformation.” The advocate raised questions regarding the makers not complying with the CBFC and getting permission for a theatrical release instead of releasing the film directly on OTT with a changed name. He claimed that the film “romanticises terrorism” and “distorts historical facts.”

According to the report, the lawyer has asked for an FIR against the film’s director, Honey Trehan, actor Diljit Dosanjh and the OTT platform Zee5, under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
