Karan Johar has produced some blockbuster patriotic films so far like Raazi, SherShaah, Gunjan Saxena and Kesari. All of these films have told the story of spies who lived in disguise to get information about the enemy country or shared the stories of brave freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation. And now, Karan Johar is all set to add another story of an unsung hero from India’s freedom struggle against the British. The film is a biopic on Usha Mehta titled Ae Watan Mere Watan. The case of this film includes Sara Ali Khan playing the character of Mehta and its first look was dropped on January 23, 2023. Here’s all about it.

The short clip starts with Sara AKA Usha Mehta setting up her radio equipment. She does this in secret by closing all the doors and windows of her house. A piece of anticipatory music plays in the background all this while when Sara is setting up her station. She then speaks into the mic about how the Britishers cannot keep the amplifying voice of the Quit India movement quiet anymore. Just when she finishes her speech, there’s a loud banging on her door and it looks like her identity has been revealed.
Sharing the first look on his social media handle, Karan Johar wrote that this film is an ‘ode to the unsung heroes and India’s freedom struggle’. He also announced that the filming of this biopic has begun. Take a look at Sara Ali Khan’s character in Ae Watan Mere Watan below.

This film will see Sara in a very different light as it is a project unlike what she has done so far. From her appearance in a white saree and tying a white ribbon in her braid to wearing a red bindi and looking vulnerable but not scared, this film will challenge Sara and will showcase her versatility. Also, the title of the movie is the name of the popular track from Johar’s bankrolled film Raazi.
