Why Trans Actress Mj Rodriguez’s 2022 Golden Globes Win Finally Got Applauded This Year

Ryan Murphy was brought to the stage for his shining moment in the spotlight as he won the fourth Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes 2023. This award was supposed to honour his lasting impact on the television industry and with audiences but, he instead, chose to use this golden moment to throw the light on his Pose co-star, Mj Rodriquez. He praised her for her 2022 Golden Globes win.

Ryan Murphy orchestrated a standing ovation for Mj Rodriquez who made history with her 2022 Golden Globes win. She became the first transgender actor to win a Golden Globe in 2022 and just because the event wasn’t televised, she couldn’t have her iconic moment in the spotlight.

Ryan Murphy brought this fact to light and mentioned how he regretted the fact that his co-star couldn’t walk on the Golden Globes stage, getting the standing ovation that she deserved for making history in 2022. He then, mentioned that she is present at his table, as his guest. After this, he asked her to stand up so that she could witness the cheer, love and respect that she honestly deserves, for making history.

Mj Rodriquez wasn’t the only celebrity that Ryan praised during his speech. He gave a huge shoutout to Matt Bomer, Niecy Nash, Billy Porter and various other LGBTQIA+ actors whom he has had the pleasure of working with. He dedicated this time to making a point about the progress that the world has made. He mentioned that when he was a kid, he couldn’t see LGBTQIA+ community members play characters or win awards but now, times have changed and there is hope for an even brighter tomorrow.

He further added the fact that it can sometimes be beyond just awful being a young kid from the LGBTQIA+ community because such kids are told to hide their sparkle from the world to survive. But, for the kids watching the Golden Globes 2023, Ryan Murphy wanted to offer up Mj, Billy, Niecy, Matt, and Jeremy as examples of newer, brighter, sparklier and better possibilities.

This was indeed, a very beautiful and noble speech by Ryan Murphy and I couldn’t help but tear up when I watched the same. What he did up there, on the stage, was fabulous and we love Ryan Murphy for doing the same.
