Romi Bhatia Recalls Being Body Shamed As A Young Girl After Watching ‘Double XL’. Why Are Plus-Sized People Shamed For Simply Existing?

It is a shame that we live in a society that looks down on those who look different. This is seen in a lot of examples but one of the most common ones is with plus-size people. Moreover, whenever a plus size person tries to accept and love themselves, they are shamed for doing that too and asked to be healthy and lose weight. So I am really looking forward to Double XL starring Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi which talks about issues faced by bigger people in society. Romi Bhatia watched the film too and it clearly tugged at her heartstrings.

A special screening of the upcoming movie Double XL was recently attended by former cricketer Kapil Dev and his wife Romi Bhatia. Romi is seen addressing the cast of the movie in a video uploaded by a paparazzo account that the story reminded her of her own horrific experiences with body-shaming as a child. Along with Zaheer Iqbal, the Double XL cast also includes Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi.

Saqib Saleem, Huma’s brother, and the movie’s producer, is shown in the video accompanying Kapil before the former cricketer meets his wife Romi and introduces Saqib, Huma, and Sonakshi. Romi compliments the movie and says to the actresses that she was that size when she first met Kapil. Earlier, Farah Khan also praised the film for being relatable. She said that she believes that most of us who are continuously dieting or trying to lose weight, will relate to the film. In addition to Huma, Sonakshi, and Zaheer, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan makes his debut in the movie as a cameo in the movie. Double XL will hit theatres in November 4.
