Reddit Debates Why Bollywood Films Don’t Cast Same Age Group Pairings In Romantic Films Anymore

The same happened when a post went viral, where the user wondered why the Hindi film industry didn’t seemingly cast age-appropriate actors opposite each other anymore. The post saw some mixed responses that will truly provoke a thought in your mind. Sure, this debate is not new, but the post sparked a conversation that deserves the limelight!

Redditors Wonder Why Bollywood Doesn’t Cast Age-Appropriate Actors!

The post, where a person questioned why we didn’t see the pairing of actors from the same age group in the film, featured stills of iconic onscreen duos, including Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Reacting to this, a person speculated that male leads got older and didn’t want to do age-appropriate movies and that they still wanted younger female co-stars. Another pointed out that this has been happening forever and not just a recent thing. They shared that whenever fresh faces are launched, they are closer in age gaps, but then the male actor tends to have a longer run as lead than the female. Having mentioned this, they also expressed feeling weird to see 90s actresses play mothers to grown-up actors while their former male co-stars continue to romance young actresses. People also point out that filmmakers refuse to cast new actors and that the Bollywood biology states that older male actors grow younger while women grow older. Some also pointed out how Salman Khan’s and Rashmika Mandanna’s pairing in Sikandar was “awkward.”

Although many people shared their take on why we don’t get to see same-age paring in Bollywood films, a section of netizens disagreed. A person pointed out several age-appropriate pairings in the recent years. This included Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Vedang Raina, Juanaid Khan, Abhay Verma opposite Sharvari, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripri Dimri, and more!
