Rashmika Mandanna On Janhvi Kapoor In Peddi
During the chat, Karan Johar brought up the discourse around the s*xualisation of Janhvi Kapoor in Peddi and asked Rashmika Mandanna if she was careful about the same since she worked in multiple languages. To this, the actor replied, saying that there were some things she was not comfortable with, like excess skin showing. She said that while some characters require her to wear a bikini, she was not that kind of a person. She further acknowledged getting certain uncomfortable costumes while playing mainstream roles but said that she has always drawn lines when it came to her.
To this, Vijay Deverakonda added, saying that even having these conversations with the directors was challenging. Johar further added that someone like Janhvi Kapoor must have felt vulnerable since she was very new to the industry. Mandanna replied, stating that the filmmakers must make it easier for an actor to come and ask such questions. She said that many times she goes and tells the producers that this is something that she doesn’t want to do, and mostly they’re okay with it. Vijay further elaborated, stating that there should be a support system telling the actress that it’s okay to say this and that they’re not doing anything wrong.
