Ram Charan has been dominating headlines as his new film Peddi is about to be released. Amid this, he turned heads because of what he had to say about fatherhood. While talking about the same, the actor called himself a “hands-on” father who doesn’t seem to like to change the diapers. But we feel that this should not be celebrated and such responsibilities are meant to be shared. Read on to know what he said in detail.
Ram Charan On Fatherhood
While conversing with Times Now, Ram Charan talked about being a father to his and Upasana Konidela’s three kids, Klin Kaara, Shiva Ram, and Anveera Devi. The actor expressed not knowing whether he is a good father or a normal one, but he is “hands-on.” The actor stated that he feeds them, puts his kids to sleep, adding that his eldest daughter sleeps beside him almost every night. He stated that he does anything other fathers do, except for changing diapers. Explaining more about the same, he said that he slips out of the room quietly when that happens.

Why Is This Problematic?
The problem with Ram Charan’s statement was not about whether changing diapers was pleasant or not and him not liking it. The fact is that no one enjoys it. The issue is that when fathers talk about such thoughts, they are looked up to for their honesty. But if a new mother does the same, she will be judged quite harshly. Further, it is worth noting that this should be a shared responsibility. Such a double standard reflects how caregiving labour continues to be gendered. It’s 2026; it’s time to be free from such things and contribute equally when it comes to such responsibilities.
