Bheed: Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar’s Black And White Film Calls Covid-19 Lockdown “Partition”

Over the past few days, Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao have been sharing black-and-white pictures of what seems to be the partition, on their social media handle. The caption of these posts also hints at a partition of sorts but is it the 1947 India-Pakistan Partition? Well, no. Earlier today, Rajkummar Rao took to Instagram to share a small video of his upcoming film alongside Bhumi Pednekar titled Bheed.

The video of Bheed shared by Rajkummar Rao shows visuals of crowds in black and white while the narrator speaks about the story of the film which is about a time when the country was divided. Elaborating further along with the visuals, the narrator reveals that this isn’t the story of the 1947 India-Pakistan partition but rather of the partition that took place in 2020 in India, that is, the Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown. The narrator reveals that the second partition took place in India in 2020 when the state borders were closed and people realised that the place they were living in for the past few years isn’t their home.
