‘Qala’ Trailer Has Us Looking Forward To Triptii Dimri As A 1930s Playback Singer

Psychological dramas and thrillers have to be one of my favourite genres of shows. There is something fun about observing people’s psychology and seeing the story shift because of the same. And I don’t know, I am a weirdo who loves messing with people’s heads. And when I saw the trailer of Qala featuring Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Amit Sial. The Anvitaa Dutt directorial is all set to release on Netflix on December 1.

The story follows a 1930s playback singer’s life and how her traumatic history and early years catch up with her, leading to her breakdown at the height of her successful career. Her relationship with her mother serves as both the beginning and the end of her spiral, and the narrative explores how she manages professional achievement while battling these inner demons. The trailer looks very interesting, in my opinion. It follows the brilliant Triptii Dimri as the lead and her spiral into paranoia which seems to be due to her insecurities stemming from another singer climbing the ladder of success. Other than her, actors such as Babil Khan, Neer Raao, Avinash Raj Sharma, Ashish Singh, Girija Oak, Sameer Kochhar and Tasveer Kamil will also be a part of this star cast.

The trailer is good mixture of light hearted with its dark moments. The range shown by Dimri on the trailer of Qala itself makes me feel excited to watch the show. The show seems to highlight a lot of underlying darkness with Bollywood and everything that a star has to do to make it to the top and keep their place. It seems to have a very The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo vibe to it which I am loving!

Watch Qala on Netflix from December 1, 2022.
