The death of former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry has shocked the nation. The 54-year-old business tycoon passed away in a car crash. He was seated in the rear seat of a Mercedes car when the car hit a barrier between two lanes. Following this incident, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari, said that seat belts will soon be made compulsory for rear seat passengers as well. This news has been discussed a lot on social media with people presenting both sides to this argument. Actress Pooja Bhatt, who is quite vocal about addressing important issues, too, has taken to Twitter to share her opinion on the rule that seatbelts might be made compulsory for rear passengers in the car.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Pooja Bhatt said that as much as the importance of seat belts and airbags is being discussed right now, people should also talk about the quality of roads should also be talked about. She also raised a question on when will the sub-standard usage of materials be deemed ‘criminal’. Pooja also did not hold back from shedding light on how important it is to maintain the roads after they are built.

Her tweet read, “All this talk of seat-belts & air bags. Important? Yes! But more so is fixing potholes & damaged roads. When will the usage of substandard material to build our roads,highways,freeways be deemed criminal. Also maintaining those roads once built & inaugurated with pomp is key.”

Talking about the compulsion of seat belts for rear seat passengers, it has been reported that those not adhering to this rule will now be fined. Nitin Gadkari also said that the minimum fine for rear seat passengers not wearing seat belts will be Rs 1000. He also said that because of the cameras installed everywhere, people not wearing seat belts will be caught easily.
