Makers Announce ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ Release Date. The Cholas Are Back!

The magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan I broke records as it became one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Boasting an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Rahman, R Parthiban, and Lal, this Tamil language historical film is based on the eponymous book by Kalki Krishnamurthy. After the first part of the film received raging reviews, the audience was waiting to know when the second part of the film would drop. And on December 28, Lyca Productions dropped the release date of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2.

The production house of the film released a 34-second teaser to announce the date of the film’s sequel. The film will hit theatres on April 28, 2023. Throughout the video, you will hear a tension-filled crescendo that will leave you anticipating the release of the movie even more. The video also informs the audience that the music for the film is composed by AR Rahman who also gave the background score for the first part. So, naturally, Ponniyin Selvan 2 will not disappoint in the music department.

Taking a ground shot, Vikram is introduced as the Chola Prince Aditha Karikalan who exudes power and confidence even within the two-second frame. Fans will also get a glimpse at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is worriedly looking at her reflection in the mirror. The beauty of her frame is such that even though the mirror is not clear enough, she shines the brightest in the video.
