Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha And More Celebs Donned Their Finest Of Silks For ‘Ponniyin Selvan-I’ Trailer Launch
The trailer and music launch of filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s upcoming release witnessed love and support from celebrities. Amidst the buzz that his historical drama–Ponniyin Selvan-I has created, the launch took place in Chennai. In attendance were the cast members of the film including actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi, amongst others. Apart from the film’s team, superstars Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan graced the occasion with their presence. And while the audiences seemed impressed with the trailer that welcomed them into the world of Cholas, the red carpet event for the launch was all parts spectacular. Besides the men who walked the carpet in their simplest sartorial avatars, women made sure to dazzle in their silk and beautiful jewellery. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Bringing her fourth collaboration with filmmaker Mani Ratnam to the audience, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arrived in a minimal and simplistic version of her onscreen look in the film, as Mandakini Devi. The actress opted for a charcoal black kurta and teamed it with a regal, silk dupatta. The crinkle brocade and gotta-bordered dupatta added a royal touch to the look. What further brought in a hint of colour was the actress’ emerald-encrusted jewels, which incorporated long, three-tier rani haar, a matching bangle and a ring. Aishwarya further completed the look with a tiny black bindi and hair let loose.

Sobhita Dhulipala
Actress Sobhita Dhulipala channelled her character Vaanathi from the film. The actress arrived in a silk saree, stylised with a front pallu and a strapless silk blouse. She further accessorised the look with a matha patti, armband and a waist belt. Sobhita styled her long tresses into crisp curls and sealed them into a loosely-tied ponytail. We think she understood the assignment!

Trisha Krishnan
Actress Trisha arrived for the trailer and audio launch in a spectacular, fuchsia pink saree. The gorgeous pink drape on the actress, featured intricate embroidery using gold thread and sequins. The three-bordered drape displayed a fine overlay of traditional appliqué. Trisha further completed her ensemble with a moon-shaped maang tika, matching umbrella earrings and gold bangles to compliment her bright pink, full-sleeved blouse. She further tied her hair into a neat ponytail and topped it all off with a dainty nose pin.

Aditi Rao Hydari
Actress Aditi Rao Hydari too graced the event in a traffic-stopping pink saree. Matched with a mono-sleeved brocade blouse in rose gold, Aditi’s minimal drape incorporated a thin border in gold. She further accessorised the look with emerald Polki jewellery, which included a stunning choker and matching pair of jhumkaas. Aditi completed the ensemble with a tiny pink bindi and open hair.

Aishwarya Lekshmi
Much like her fellow co-stars, actress Aishwarya Lekshmi who plays the role of Poonguzhali in the film arrived in a bright pink and red drape. The traditional silhouette in silk featured a gorgeous spread of golden lines and was matched with striking red silk blouse. For jewellery, Aishwarya too opted for regal emerald and styled a choker and statement maang tika to accentuate the entire look.
