Swara Bhasker, Onir Slam Trolls Trashing ‘Pathaan’s’ ‘Besharam Rang’ Song

Who would have thought that a song from a movie would trigger the entire nation to the extent of boycotting the movie just on the basis of that one track? Yes, I am talking about the controversy that the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from the movie Pathaan has landed into! People are demanding to ban the movie because the colour of Deepika’s bikini in the song is apparently hurting Hindu sentiments. Recently, Swara Bhasker and filmmaker Onir hit back at the trolls who had hopped onto the #BoycottPathaan bandwagon and came out in support of the film.

Swara Bhasker took to Twitter to Twitter to take a dig at the ministers who initiated this controversy. She tweeted in Hindi writing that if these politicians would have the time to look at actresses’ clothes, then maybe they have the time to do some actual work as well.

Filmmaker Onir hit back at another Twitter user who wrote about how could Ranveer Singh allow the ‘molestation’ of his wife on screen for a ‘few bucks’. Onir responded to this tweet by writing that usage of words like ‘allow’ and ‘tolerate’ show that the Twitter user belongs to a tribe of men who think a husband ‘owns’ his wife.

The ban on the song and the movie comes after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini in ‘Besharam Rang’ has hurt Hindu sentiments. And this notion gained traction on social media where people began commenting about how a saffron bikini-clad woman is being “groped” by a Muslim man. Koi sense hai is baat mei? The unity in people who have come together to troll Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan in this sensual beach song is astonishing.

On a side note, Pathaan will bring together Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan on the silver screen for the fourth time. The movie is an action thriller helmed by Siddharth Anand and also stars John Abraham in a prominent role. The movie will hit theatres on January 25, 2023.
