‘Chhello Show’, ‘RRR’s’ ‘Naatu Naatu’ And More Indian Films Make Oscars 2023 Shortlist

Josh among the Indian audience is also through the roof as three projects and one song from the homeland have made the Oscars cut. It is a matter of pride that our cinematic projects are well-received on a global platform. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the film RRR has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song Category for Oscars 2023. The film was also earlier submitted in various categories but now it only competes in the original score category. Chhello Show, translated into English, The Last Show, a Gujarati language film, has been shortlisted in the International Feature film category. This movie was also India’s official entry into the Oscars. In the Documentary Feature Film category, we have two films namely – All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers being shortlisted. The latter is available for streaming on Netflix.

2. RRR really should be on the international film list (damn it, India!) but that's a good slate.

Over the years so far, many films like Gully Boy, Jallikattu, Newton, Village Rockstars and Visaranani have made it to the Oscars shortlist. But the only ones to have made it to the nominations list are Lagaan, Mother India and Salaam Bombay. This year, with four projects being shortlisted, the chances of them getting nominated also fairly look high.
