The excitement among movie-goers is high with the shortlisted nominations for Oscars 2023 being announced. Josh among the Indian audience is also through the roof as three projects and one song from the homeland have made the Oscars cut. It is a matter of pride that our cinematic projects are well-received on a global platform. Without further ado, here are the details of the Indian films, documentaries and songs that have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.

The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the film RRR has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song Category for Oscars 2023. The film was also earlier submitted in various categories but now it only competes in the original score category. Chhello Show, translated into English, The Last Show, a Gujarati language film, has been shortlisted in the International Feature film category. This movie was also India’s official entry into the Oscars. In the Documentary Feature Film category, we have two films namely – All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers being shortlisted. The latter is available for streaming on Netflix.

People on Twitter were rejoicing over the Oscars 2023 shortlisted names. The micro-blogging site was abuzz with people sharing their excitement over Indian songs and films

Over the years so far, many films like Gully Boy, Jallikattu, Newton, Village Rockstars and Visaranani have made it to the Oscars shortlist. But the only ones to have made it to the nominations list are Lagaan, Mother India and Salaam Bombay. This year, with four projects being shortlisted, the chances of them getting nominated also fairly look high.

The Oscars 2023 will be held live on March 12, 2023. The venue for this event is the Los Angeles Dolby Theatre. And Jimmy Kimmel, the popular talk show host, will be returning as the Oscars host!
