Oscars 2023: ‘Naatu Naatu’ From RRR Scripts History, Wins Best Original Song OscaRRR!
If you, like me, have gotten up at 5.30 am on a Monday morning to watch The Oscars, your hard work has paid off. Not only did Deepika Padukone slay on the Oscars red carpet while announcing the ‘Naatu Naatu’ performance on Oscars stage, but SS Rajamouli and Team RRR just scripted history by winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song! Composer MM Keeravani almost sang his speech on stage!
WE CREATED HISTORY!! 🇮🇳

On stage to receive the award were composer M.M. Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose. The Telugu ‘banger’, as Deepika Padukone put it, scripts history as it becomes the first Indian song to ever be nominated AND win this honour. This, coupled with the Documentary short win for The Elephant Whisperers, makes this a landmark year at the Oscars for India!
The 95th Academy Awards are currently underway in Los Angeles. And there’s a lot of Naatu Naatu in the air for India! While we did miss Ram Charan and Jr. NTR on stage during the performance, it was a power-packed one nonetheless! Not to mention, the way Deepika Padukone kept getting interrupted by loud cheers when she was on stage announcing the performance, made all our hearts melt!
