Olivia Wilde Fired Shia Lebeouf From ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ To Protect Her Team. Need More Directors To Put Safety First

Let’s be fair, women are rarely given positions of power in the first place. In the last decade itself, female directors have gotten more prominent. However, I feel like while the rise of women to power is encouraged, how much power do they really hold? Let’s be honest, we still live in a predominantly patriarchal society where women, despite holding the same position as men, are expected to act feminine aka docile, soft-spoken, nonassertive and unambitious. I feel that this results in many women in power still not taking bold decisions out of fear of being perceived as “bitchy”. However, I am glad that some are still trying to break away from these preconceived norms and are doing their best to do right by their role. One of them is Olivia Wilde as she has just opened up in detail about why she took the decision to replace Shia LeBeouf in her movie, Don’t Worry Darling.

Wilde continued that she believes that the best way to encourage employees to do their best is to establish a secure and trustworthy workplace. She stated, “my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job.” According to reports, LeBeouf denied reports that he had been fired. He stated that the narrative circulating is untrue and traducing and said that he left the project. For the unversed, while both: Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde were enthusiastic for Harry Styles to take up the role of Jack, he was unavailable due to his touring schedule. That is when Shia LeBeouf landed the part.
