Shark Tank fame and Emcure Pharmaceuticals Executive Director Namita Thapar got some backlash after a video of her speaking about the health benefits of namaz went viral. She praised it, stating it improved flexibility while enhancing blood circulation and was also beneficial for mental health. She added that the posture of Vajrasana, which is part of namaz, aids digestion. However, many on the internet criticised her for discussing this.

Namita Thapar On Controversial Video

On Monday, April 20, Namita Thapar took to her X (Previously Twitter) account and broke the silence on her Namaz video. She said, “For the past three weeks, people have been calling me a prostitute non-stop, and even my dear mother has been subjected to abusive name-calling. For what? For making a reel about the health benefits of namaz? I am a healthcare professional. I’ve made several reels on Hindu rituals and their health benefits as well.” She questioned why no one ever questioned her back then.

The entrepreneur further pointed out why everyone spoke up when the reservation bill didn’t pass, yet they remained silent when a woman was treated disrespectfully. She stated that she had learnt how to speak up for herself and reminded everyone about a concept called ‘Karma’ in Hinduism. She also called herself a proud Hindu. Thapar concluded this video by saying that god was watching all of them and also challenged Hindus who believed in respect for women to make this video viral as well.

She captioned it saying that she shot this video at 7 AM while leaving Bombay, adding that she had learnt that one must always speak up against disrespect.  Namita Thapar said that everyone must raise their voice against anything violating basic human rights, and also clarified that she was used to trolling after being on Shark Tank India. The purpose of her video was to urge Indians to speak up against hate out of humanity and patriotism. She ended this video with “Jai Hind.”
