‘Ms Marvel’ Finale Shares The Origin Story Behind Kamala’s Superhero Name. And It’s Perfect!

Ms Marvel’s final episode aired today and, I can’t even begin to press how emotional the ending was. The 6th episode took us on a rollercoaster of emotions and action. Gasps were heard, tears were shed and laughter surrounded us all. We have all been wondering how Kamala Khan’s superhero name changed from Night Light to Ms Marvel and thankfully, the origin story is finally here and, it’s so very emotional. Fans have already been celebrating this story all over the internet and we really have to talk about how beautiful it is.

If you haven’t seen the episode yet, I have got to warn you, major spoilers ahead!

So, How Did The Name Ms Marvel Originate?

It’s been a few weeks since the series started and we have all been wondering why Kamala named herself Ms Marvel. Initially, like a lot of other fans, I believed that she chose this name because of her intense love for Carol (Captain Marvel). Meanwhile, other fans believed that she named herself that as a sign of respect and love towards the Avengers.

Some fans also believed that her mother was the one who names her when she realises the reality of her powers, in Pakistan. Some people even hoped that her Nani gets to name her because of their close relationship with her. But the writers blew our minds with an origin story that we couldn’t have possibly imagined.

Kamala is seen sitting with her father and talking about her powers, he lovingly supports her as he tells her that saving people is the noblest thing to do and that her entire existence is magic. He smiles and tells her about the time when he and her mother were trying very hard to have a second child. They weren’t able to conceive and then when they nearly gave up, she showed up, it was a magical blessing for them.

This was the reason why they names her Kamala which means perfect in Hindi but in Urdu, it means Wonder or Marvel. This is when he tears up and tells her that she has always been their little Ms Marvel. His love and support were the reason behind the name that we have all been in love with, for a few weeks now. This story has the potential to move anyone to tears and I dare you to disagree.

This finale has left fans with happy tears and in a state of absolute shock. A show that was once called the ‘least watched’ series in the MCU’s history, has now made its way to the very top and we cannot wait for an official announcement about the second season.
