Mannara Chopra Wanted To Do Fairness Cream Ad But Got Rejected Due To Pimples, That’s How Unrealistic Beauty Standards Continue To Exist!
What is this?

Many celebrities have been vocal about the unrealistic beauty standards set by the industry and how they tackle them. Just recently, actress and Bigg Boss 17 Runner Up, Mannara Chopra opened up about the same, and how your looks can also be the reason you lose your job. Speaking to a news portal, Chopra mentioned how she was once selected to shoot for a fairness cream ad, but was rejected at the end moment because of a very sad reason.

Speaking about it, Chopra described how she got through all three rounds of auditions, but it was a few hours before the final shoot day when she was surprised with a bunch of pimples on her forehead. By the time she reached Madh Island for the location, the acne had aggravated and was visible on the screen. While the team tried to experiment with some cut light to hide the acne, nothing worked out. Sadly, Mannara was sent back home, and it was then that she faced rejection for the very first time. Furthermore, Mannara mentioned that she was very keen on doing the ad, but was heartbroken when rejected due to the silly pimples.

As someone who suffers from acne and skin issues, I feel this imagery of clear skin used to endorse certain brands and products is a disgusting thought. What is the need to create the illusion of a skin that only exists in dreams? And while every girl battles with skin issues and hormonal issues, what makes it even more difficult for women dealing with one in the entertainment industry is the constant pressure of looking good for the camera. Be it their body size, shape, weight, skin or hair, every little detail is scrutinised in the public eye. And sadly, they become a reason behind them losing out on work.

Not just Mannara but recently actress Rashami Desai also faced massive trolling for her appearance at friend/actress Arti Singh’s sangeet ceremony. Eagle-eyed fans and media professionals trolled the actress for her weight and choice of lehenga. Besides Desai, actor Rajkummar Rao also talked openly about male actors facing an equal amount of pressure to look a certain way, and labelled it as “weird” and “unfair.” Well, can we please normalise normal people, and not make celebrities god?
