The film moves between two different timelines. In the past, set in 1947, a young couple played by Vedang Raina and Sharvari fall in love in Punjab before the partition. Their sweet love story gets broken when violence and migration start. As they are separated at the border, Vedang Raina’s character makes a strong promise that he will come back one day, as the title suggests.

In the present time, years later, an old man played by Naseeruddin Shah is shown who is troubled by memories of his lost love. His grandson, played by Diljit Dosanjh, wants to help him. He tries to bring back those old memories by carefully putting the love story together again. In the trailer, we can see that all the actors have given natural and strong performances. Vedang Raina and Sharvari look fresh and believable in their roles.
AR Rahman’s beautiful music and Irshad Kamil’s touching lyrics make the story even more powerful. Imtiaz Ali is known for making emotional love stories, and this one also seems special.
