As much as the Indian audience loved seeing the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song live on stage, there was a lot of chitter-chatter about the lack of representation of Indian dancers on the Oscars stage! Peeps had criticised the move of not having Indian dancers performing the song and instead choosing white artists for the same. For the unversed, Lauren Gottlieb was also one of the lead dancers in the performance has now taken to Instagram to pen a lengthy note sharing her experience about performing ‘Naatu Naatu’ live. In her note, she also apologised for mislabelling the song to be Bollywood!

Lauren Gottlieb dropped a series of pictures from the Naatu Naatu live performance on her Instagram handle. In the caption of the post, she wrote that the standing ovation that she and her team for is something she will never forget. She also thanked Raj Kapoor Productions, choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo, Indian choreographer Prem Rakshith, Team RRR, and the Academy for choosing her to be in the live performance.

Furthermore, Lauren also addressed the representation concerns raised by the Indian audiences. She wrote that she heard and emphasises with the people who have talked about this. She also wrote that she is not a part of the casting process but will speak up and be vigilant about this issue in the future. Lauren Gottlieb also asked her fans to forgive her for the mix-up when she called mislabeled the song as Bollywood. She wrote that she knows it was Tollywood, and that the industry deserves all the recognition.
