‘Koffee With Karan’: 5 Bollywood Love Stories That Began On Karan Johar’s Koffee Couch

We normal people have Sima Taparia and dating apps and shaadi websites for matchmaking but what about Tinsel town? Who does the matchmaking there? It’s not like celebs can sign up on a dating app or a wedding website? But B-town does have an unofficial matchmaker, Karan Johar aka KJo. The filmmaker, who recently called himself the Sima Taparia of B-town, is the one who seems to be making jodis in the film industry with his Koffee couch. In the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7, the filmmaker shared that his Koffee couch has been grounds for several budding romances and we’ve all witnessed it too. Over the years, we’ve seen several celebs admitting to having a crush on a certain someone only for them to start dating and some of these relationships have also ended in marriage! Yepp, that is true. So, let’s take a look at all the B-town jodis that Koffee With Karan has made.

1. Alia Bhatt And Ranbir Kapoor

In one of the earlier episodes of Koffee With Karan, Alia Bhatt told Karan Johar all about her crush on Ranbir Kapoor. She had called him “adorable” and said that she wants to marry him and that she has always had a crush on him. And it looks like the actress did manifest her crush on the Koffee couch because the duo are now finally married and gearing up to welcome their first child.

2. Katrina Kaif And Vicky Kaushal

Remember back when Katrina Kaif had said that she thinks she’d look great opposite Vicky Kaushal on-screen during her conversation with Karan Johar on Koffee With Karan? Well, on-screen na sahi but they sure look cute off-screen! The actress had appeared on the talk show with Varun Dhawan and soon after when Vicky appeared on the show with Ayushmann Khurrana, Karan told the actor about Kat’s confession and he pretended to faint a little. Fast forward to December 2021, the couple tied the knot in a hush-hush and intimate ceremony after keeping their relationship under wraps from all of us.

3. Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh

This iconic B-town power couple also came together after Ranveer Singh manifested Deepika Padukone on the Koffee couch. Ranveer appeared on Koffee With Karan alongside Ranbir Kapoor back in 2016. During the rapid-fire round, when Karan Johar asked him who would he Kill, Marry or Hook Up with, the actor said that he would marry Deepika Padukone and 2 years later the couple actually got married.

4. Malaika Arora And Arjun Kapoor

We don’t know if this romance began from the Koffee couch but it did come out after Malaika Arora’s stint on the talk show. After Malaika’s divorce, the actress kept her personal life to herself and Arjun Kapoor has never discussed his personal life and relationships in public or with the media. In one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan, when the filmmaker asked about the Best Male Performance on the show, actress Kirron Kher (who appeared along with Malaika Arora, Vir Das and Mallika Dua) named Arjun. Agreeing with her Malaika had said that she likes Arjun “this way or that way”. Well, clearly, they did make their relationship public and official soon after.

5. Sara Ali Khan And Karthik Aaryan

In the previous season of Koffee With Karan, Sara Ali Khan had appeared with her father Saif Ali Khan and had expressed her desire to date Kartik Aaryan and Saif had asked, “Does he have money? Got money? You can take her (Sara)”. Soon after when Kartik appeared on the show and Karan asked him why he hasn’t asked Sara out on a date, the actor replied that he’s trying to earn more money since Saif had said so. The actor had also said that Sara is a princess and he would require a certain bank balance to ask her out on a date. After the two episodes, Kartik and Sara signed Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal and were rumoured to be dating. In fact, in the recent episode of Koffee With Karan, the actress hinted that they were actually dating.
