As a journalist, I will admit that there have been many times when journalists have asked unbelievably stupid, sexist, and uncalled-for questions to celebrities. And so it isn’t a surprise when celebrities lose their cools while giving interviews. Having said that, what happened between a journalist and Kangana Ranaut was, in my opinion, simply rude and uncalled for from the actress. I’m talking about the interview that has gone viral and social media is divided on it.

During an interview at the event launch of Lock Upp – a new show, Kangana Ranaut got angry and rudely replied to a journalist when she was asked about the recent controversy that involved Deepika Padukone and her clothes.

Kangana Ranaut, who will be the host of the new show Lock Upp, lost her cool when the journalist asked her about her opinion on an influencer shaming Deepika Padukone for the clothes she was wearing during the Gehraiyaan promotions. The Queen actor as a reply said, “Look, I am here to defend those who can’t defend themselves. Alright? She can defend herself. She has the privilege, the platform and I can’t promote her film here. Sit down.”

As per reports, the journalist further tried explaining her point stating that it was not her intention to promote any other movie, the Thalaivi actor snapped back at her saying, “Of course, you named the film. You are also naming a film which is coming. Obviously, you are being planted by the PRs of the said film. Arre yaar, hum itne bhi toh naadaan nahi hai na (I am not so naive). Do it outside, I will engage with you for 45 minutes.”

As a journalist, I genuinely don’t understand the reason why the actress snapped. Now, I know that Deepika Padukone is privileged and can stand up for herself, but all that the journalist was asking Kangana Ranaut what her take was as a female celebrity.

Honestly, I feel like a celebrity, who always goes around criticising others for not standing up for her and calls herself a feminist, should have kept her personal grudge/conflict at the side and answered the question as a woman. And if she didn’t want to, then a simple refusal to answer the question of that would have also worked. But behaving this way with a journalist in front of people and other news channels can have a serious impact on her career as well – and the Tanu Weds Manu actress could have been more considerate and kind.
