Jennifer Aniston Slams Comments About Her Choosing Career Over Having Children. Can We All Just Stop Commenting On Women’s Personal Choices?

I think it is safe to say that women are given a harder time regarding their life choices as compared to men. A man can get away with prioritising his career, remaining unmarried, having no children or even having multiple marriages without being shamed half as much as women are for the same choices. I remember recently when a male relative insinuated a comment towards me talking about how women who are too intelligent don’t find men to get married to. As if that is supposed to be something I concern myself with. While I am certain every woman must have faced this type of casual sexism, a lot of the women in the public eye have to face such unwarranted comments from 1000s of people who believe they have the right to comment upon their life and choices. Actress Jennifer Aniston seems to agree with me as she gets candid in a recent interview over her opinion of people’s comments on her not having children.

Jennifer Aniston talks about the double standards that exist in the world and in Hollywood, how men and women are perceived differently from one another. When asked about her thoughts about people talking about her sex life Anniston says that she would want to tell people to get out of her panty drawer, let her do her job and stop hating on her for it! Yes, please!

When asked how the attention on her private life has affected her professional one, Jennifer Aniston says that her job is to simply show what she is capable of and leave it up to the people to subscribe if they like it. She then talks about all the speculation regarding her not having children. Aniston talks about how she was accused of choosing her career over having children (as if that is anyone’s business but her own). She says, “You have no clue what’s going with me personally, medically, why I can’t… can I have kids? They don’t know anything, and it was really hurtful and just nasty.” When asked by Lacey Rose from The Hollywood Reporter about how men seem to have escaped the kind of judgement that women get, Jennifer Aniston talks about how men can be married multiple times or be married to women younger than them in their 20s and 30s, but women aren’t allowed to do that.

I and hopefully even you guys agree with Jennifer Aniston here. While men are allowed to chase their dreams put their career before anything else, a woman is shamed for it. No matter if it is a woman as successful as Jennifer Aniston also isn’t saved by these unnecessary speculations and toxic witch hunt.
