The views discussed were linked to those of the philosophical movement ecofeminism, which connects environmental exploitation with women’s historical subordination. This statement caused a wildfire on X (previously Twitter), with many opposing, while other supporting her stance. Users pointed out the hypocrisy of Mirza, a leading actress with a lavish lifestyle, and stated that she was not in a position to comment on climate change while sitting in an air-conditioned room. On the other hand, many felt that bringing patriarchy, which is a social construct, into the conversations of climate change could trivialise the issue.
